A Festival of Milestone Moments – New Expansion Evercold, EVANGELION Crossover, and Patch Series 7.5
Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida wasted no time and surprised fans with major announcements. The sixth expansion for FINAL FANTASY XIV is titled Evercold and will launch in January 2027. For the millions-strong community, Evercold promises an entirely new chapter in the epic story saga.
Furthermore, fans can look forward to a crossover of a special kind: with EVANGELION – Ghosts of Desire, a cult anime is making its way into FINAL FANTASY XIV. First aired in 1995, the anime has grown into a cult phenomenon, having already spawned several animated films and a comic adaptation. In FINAL FANTASY XIV, EVANGELION – Ghosts of Desire will bring players a new Alliance Raid series.
But fans won’t have to wait until January 2027: The 7.5 patch series will be released in stages, bringing fresh content to the game well ahead of Evercold. With new main quests, a Cosmic Exploration, the introduction of the beastmaster job, and much more, the community should be more than well taken care of until the launch of the next expansion.

New Console Version of FINAL FANTASY XIV
SQUARE ENIX President and CEO Takashi Kiryu also announced FINAL FANTASY XIV for Nintendo Switch™ 2. The launch is planned for August 2026. The new platform opens the gates to Eorzea for even more adventurers: the vast world of the MMORPG will also be explored together with other players on Nintendo’s current console.

About EVANGELION
The television series NEON GENESIS EVANGELION became an immediate and widespread sensation upon its first broadcast in 1995.
In 2007, the series was relaunched as the Rebuild of EVANGELION film series. Conceived, written and directed by Hideaki Anno, EVANGELION: 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0 were all hugely successful, captivating new fans and garnering much praise from a wide range of audiences.
The fourth and final film in the series, EVANGELION: 3.0 + 1.0, was released on March 8, 2021, after having been postponed twice due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It recorded 6.73 million admissions, earning 10.2 billion yen at the box office.
On March 8, 2023, the long-awaited Blu-ray and DVD, EVANGELION: 3.0 + 1.11 THRICE UPON A TIME was released.
October 2025 marked 30 years since the television series debuted, and a celebratory event titled EVANGELION: 30+; 30th ANNIVERSARY OF EVANGELION was held in Yokohama Arena between February 21 and 23, 2026. Though such an anniversary event was a first for the series, it proved to be a resounding success, attracting a great many visitors from Japan and around the world.
